EVCP Office Strategic Initiatives

The world’s top public institution of higher education, the University of California, Berkeley is deeply committed to excellence in teaching, state-of-the-art research, and public service for the good of Californians and the world. As the chief academic officer and second-in-command to the Chancellor, interim EVCP Christ works to ensure the university’s continued academic preeminence.

In addition to working with Chancellor Dirks on efforts ranging from the Undergraduate Initiative to the Berkeley Global Campus, interim EVCP Christ is leading several major initiatives that aim to accomplish two goals: 1) enhance UC Berkeley’s status as an exceptional public teaching and research university accessible to a broad range of diverse undergraduate and graduate students; and 2) advance the university’s move toward greater financial sustainability in an era of state disinvestment - state funding per student has dropped more than 50 percent since 2007 - through budget reform and reshaping our approach to fundraising.
