Dear campus community,
It is my pleasure to report to you today, following a nationwide search, that I am appointing Julie M. Hooper as the new Vice Chancellor of University Development and Alumni Relations (formerly known as University Relations.)
Julie began her career in Berkeley in July 2014 as Associate Vice Chancellorfor University Relations, and in her first year on the job she helped lead the way in raising a record $462.5 million in philanthropic support for the campus. She has also been instrumental in working with me and with Executive ViceChancellor and Provost Claude Steele in defining principles for transforming our campus fundraising, under the broad umbrella of Fundraising 2.0.
