Search Announcement and Update: Executive Vice Chancellor & Provost

July 6, 2021

Dear Campus Community,

I am writing to provide you with an update on the search for the next executive vice chancellor & provost (EVCP) following the announcement shared earlier this year. The EVCP is a key executive leadership role on the Berkeley campus with broad impact to the campus's missions, strategies and operating officer (executive vice chancellor) responsible for the campus's day-to-day operations.

We convened the search committee this past spring and held stakeholder listening sessions, including two open forums, in May and June, to gather feedback from the campus community regarding the challenges, opportunities, and priorities for the positions, and the desired qualities and characteristics for the candidates. Thank you to those of you who provided valuable input. We continue to welcome feedback from the campus community through this online survey, which will remain open through the search process.

The search committee and search firm consultants synthesized the information received through the listening sessions and the online survey, and have developed a detailed EVCP leadership profile. The Berkeley community is encouraged to share this profile broadly and the search firm will use this information to reach out to potential candidates. It is important that we build a strong and diverse pool of qualified candidates. We encourage you to reach out to our consultants from the search firm  WittKieffer at BerkeleyEVCP@wittkieffer.com if you have questions or would like to submit candidate nominations.

You can read the profile and other information on the EVCP search webpage.

Sincerely,

Carol T. Christ

Chancellor
