Invitation to Comment: Proposed Draft Policy on Engagement with Third-party Online Program Management Providers

April 28, 2022

Dear Colleagues,

The Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost’s (EVCP) office has released a draft of the proposed Policy on Engagement with Third-party Online Program Management Providers. This policy will help ensure the most favorable relationship and financial terms possible while also protecting UC Berkeley’s reputation and brand. It also protects students and supports compliance with associated laws, particularly regarding ADA and data security/privacy, while also ensuring intellectual property protections are in place. Finally, it provides the campus with information needed to make informed decisions that ensure that UC Berkeley’s academic units receive the greatest benefit possible through participation in online education programs.

Under this proposed policy, New Academic Ventures, Berkeley (NAV-B) – collaborating with Supply Chain Management (SCM) and Business Contracts and Brand Protection (BCBP) and supported by Legal Affairs – will provide guidance through the process for proposal submission to the EVCP. NAV-B also serves as UC Berkeley’s point of contact in negotiations with the vendor including all details of contracts.

The draft policy is posted on the Campuswide Policies and Procedures website. Please submit your comments or questions no later than May 27, 2022 using this Google form.  We look forward to your response. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Catherine P. Koshland

Interim Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost
