Dear campus community,
It is with great sadness that I write to share the news that Chief Campus Counsel Christopher M. Patti was involved in a fatal accident early this Sunday while bicycling in Sonoma County.
Chris was a nationally recognized leader in higher education law and a longtime member of the University of California community, having served as our campus counsel for the past seven years and as a member of the UC systemwide Office of the General Counsel from 1990 to 2010. He loved this institution with all his heart, and his knowledge, compassion, and integrity made him an extraordinary public servant and an incredible colleague. We offer our sincere sympathies to his family, as well as to the many individuals within our community who worked with Chris and who, like me, considered him a dear friend.
