Search Announcement: Dean of the Walter A. Haas School of Business - 2017

The University of California, Berkeley invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean of the Walter A. Haas School of Business.  The position is available on July 1, 2018.  The closing date for applications is January 16, 2018

With a renowned Faculty and an acclaimed facility, the Berkeley-Haas School of Business is a world-recognized center for business education and research.  The school seeks a Dean with an outstanding record of distinction in academia, business, or government, along with a scholarly record suitable for appointment to a tenured position at Berkeley, and a commitment to intellectual and professional excellence.  The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated record of leading organizations, promoting diversity and inclusion, and attracting and retaining distinguished faculty. Additionally, the ideal candidate will be able to establish strong partnerships with campus leadership and peers leading other academic units, guide strategic planning processes, manage budgets and develop strategies for long term sustainability. The Dean will solicit and steward private financial and other support from alumni, the philanthropic community, firms and other friends and stakeholders of Berkeley-Haas. Importantly, the ideal candidate will embrace and promote the Berkeley-Haas Defining Principles: Question the Status Quo; Confidence Without Attitude; Students Always; and Beyond Yourself.

The Dean has responsibility for the academic and administrative operations of the School. The School offers six degree program: a Ph.D. in business administration, an M.B.A. (full-time, evening/weekend and executive programs), a Masters in Financial Engineering (M.F.E.), and a B.S. in business administration (an upper-division major). In 2016 the school launched a new five-year strategic plan focused on an enterprise-wide approach to our alumni network, strengthening ties to U.C. Berkeley, and capitalizing on our Bay Area location.
