Jennifer Johnson-Hanks has decided to step down as Executive Dean of the College of Letters & Science at the end of her current five-year term on June 30, 2026.
As you have likely seen, recent reports detailed serious and troubling allegations of sexual abuse by Cesar Chavez. You may have also seen Dolores Huerta’s statement as a survivor(link is external) and the state of California’s move to rename Cesar Chavez day as Farmworkers Day(link is external). We want to acknowledge the effect that this news may have on members of our community, particularly survivors of sexual violence and harassment. The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has made changes to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) that add new requirements for websites, web content, and online systems and applications. In turn, the UC Office of the President (UCOP) has proposed a revised version of the current UC System-wide Information Technology Accessibility Policy (ITAP) to incorporate the changes in federal regulation. This message is to inform the Berkeley community of these changes, plus invite review and feedback on the proposed revised policy in accordance with UCOP’s Policy process.

The academic salary scales for policy-covered academics will be increased by a general range adjustment of 3.2% (subject to rounding where applicable). This adjustment to the academic salary scales will be effective October 1, 2025 for policy-covered faculty and July 1, 2025 for other policy-covered academic appointees.
